Teacher Training at Blue Dolphin PlaySkool: Inspiring Excellence and Happiness in Education
At Blue Dolphin PlaySkool, we believe that empowered educators create exceptional learning experiences for our young learners. This belief was at the heart of our recent teacher training programme, a two-day journey designed to align teaching practices with our school’s philosophy, equip teachers with innovative tools, and foster teamwork. The training also provided an opportunity to reflect on our shared vision of nurturing confident, curious, and compassionate children.
Day 1: Foundations of HEARTS, MiMaCo, and Brain Gym
The first day of the training focused on understanding and strengthening the foundational pillars that define Blue Dolphin PlaySkool.
HEARTS: Living Our Core Values
The program began with an in-depth session on our school’s core values: Honesty, Enjoyment, Achievement, Respect, Teamwork, and Service Excellence. Teachers explored how these values can be embodied in the classroom and integrated into daily interactions with children, fostering a culture of kindness and integrity.
MiMaCo: Our Guiding Philosophy
Next, the focus shifted to our unique philosophy i.e. Mind Management and Comprehensive Approach (MiMaCo). Through interactive discussions and activities, teachers examined how mindfulness can enhance focus, mastery encourages skill development, and collaboration builds a strong sense of community among students, teachers, and families.
Brain Gym: Energizing the Mind and Body
The afternoon featured a lively session on Brain Gym, a set of simple physical exercises designed to improve cognitive function, coordination, and concentration. Teachers learned how to incorporate these movements into daily routines to help students stay energised and ready to learn.
Montessori Kits: Hands-On Learning The day concluded with an exploration of Montessori kits. Teachers gained hands-on experience with these educational tools, designed to support sensory learning, problem-solving, and independent exploration. This session reinforced the importance of creating engaging, child-centered learning environments.
Day 2: Unlocking Literacy with Jolly Phonics
The second day was dedicated to Jolly Phonics, an innovative approach to teaching literacy. This program emphasizes a multisensory method to teach letter sounds and blending. Teachers participated in practical exercises, mastering techniques that make learning to read both fun and effective for young children. By the end of the session, participants were equipped with creative strategies to build phonemic awareness and foster a love for reading in their students.
The Grand Finale: Paradise Palooza Gala Dinner
The training program concluded with a festive Paradise Palooza Gala Dinner, a vibrant celebration of teamwork and shared success. Teachers embraced the tropical theme, donning colourful attire and enjoying a lively evening of delicious food, engaging activities, and heartfelt camaraderie. The gala dinner was the perfect way to cap off two days of learning, reflection, and connection, leaving everyone recharged and inspired for the year ahead.
